Baltimore Business Journal: Baltimore sweets maker Wockenfuss buys new headquarters
One of the sweeter names in Greater Baltimore is getting a new address.
Wockenfuss Candy Co. has acquired a 23,000-square-foot industrial building at 6831 Harford Road and plans to shift its operations to the new Baltimore City site. The deal was done through a subsidiary.
The confectioner plans to relocate from 5416 Belair Road this spring. Wockenfuss will set up a retail outlet at the site, which will also serve as its headquarters and hub for its its manufacturing, distribution, mail-order and online sales operations.
Trout Daniel & Associates broker William P. Ferrell represented the aptly named Sweet Dreams LLC in the purchase of the building. Sweet Dreams, headed by Wockenfuss owner Paul Wockenfuss, paid $600,000 for the property Oct. 26, according to city land records. The building’s prior owner, Sonase LLC, acquired the structure for $600,000 in December 2000, according to the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation. The building is assessed at $733,500. Trout Daniel brokers Steven L. Cornblatt and Matthew S. Melnick represented Sonase.
Wockenfuss has retained Trout Daniel to market its current building for sale. That Belair Road building is assessed at $103,000, according to state records. Originally posted in Baltimore Business Journal.
