Owner of locally-owned restaurant says “time is right” to enter the Baltimore County marketplace to extend the long-established brand

BALTIMORE, MD (December 3, 2015) – The Mother’s Grille chain of restaurants, recognized locally for its iconic Federal Hill location and made-from-scratch food dishes, has chosen Broad Street Market in Timonium as the site of its third location in Maryland and first in the Baltimore County marketplace. The shopping center, located on 2430 Broad Avenue near the intersection of Interstate 83 and Padonia Road, was developed and is owned by Hill Management Services, Inc. Danielle Beyrodt of Hill Management represented the landlord and Steven Cornblatt of Trout Daniel & Associates, LLC represented the tenant in this transaction.

Mother’s Timonium Grille at Broad Street Market is expected to open in first quarter 2016. This represents the third location for the restaurant chain, started by David Rather in Federal Hill in 1977, with a second site, Mother’s Peninsula Grille in the Severna Park section of Anne Arundel County opening in 2012. Rather indicates that his management team is continuing to work with Steven Cornblatt of Trout Daniel & Associates to scout locations for the chain’s fourth site.

“We have worked hard to develop a strong brand and, with many of our loyal customers residing in the Baltimore County region, the time was right to plant roots in that area,” said Rather who explained the restaurant name is taken from his nickname in college. “In Broad Street Market, we found the perfect shopping center that provides us entry into the York Road Corridor which extends through Cockeysville, Hunt Valley, Sparks and Parkton. The pad site opportunity is ideal for signage, roadside visibility and generous parking. We feel our brand has something to offer to Baltimore County, namely a lively restaurant experience, made-from-scratch meals and a casual and extra-friendly environment.”

Mother’s Grille is an award-winning family-owned and operated restaurant and tavern. It has been recognized with awards including the “Ultimate Burger” in Maryland by The Food Network, and the “top 25 sports bars in the nation” by Sporting News Magazine.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and is a 95% scratch kitchen, including the use of top-quality ingredients, with menu specialties featuring crab cakes, fresh fish dishes and twenty varieties of burgers and chicken wings. Mother’s Grille is also recognized for its Ravens game day experience on the “Purple Patio” and is a popular destination for sports fans. The tavern component offers a twenty-tap draft system and special events such as Pajama Brunch.

Broad Street Market is anchored by Brick Bodies Padonia and features additional tenants such as Menchey’s Music, Wild Birds Unlimited, and Broad Street Liquors. It is conveniently positioned within the highly-trafficked York Road retail corridor.

“Restaurants have become the new anchors and primary traffic-generators for popular shopping centers, so we consider it a significant win to secure the first Mother’s restaurant in the Baltimore County region,” stated Danielle Beyrodt, Vice President – Leasing and Acquisitions for Hill Management Services. “The Mother’s chain has successfully survived the test of time in an extremely competitive restaurant environment in Baltimore City, and has further demonstrated the strength of its management team and brand with a high-performing location in Anne Arundel County. Their presence significantly improves the Broad Street Market experience.”

According to Rather, each restaurant employs approximately 70 part-time and full-time employees. Mother’s Timonium Grille restaurant will be 6533 square feet in size.
