Daniel Offers Keynote Remarks at Next Generation Breakfast
Timonium, MD – Trout Daniel & Associates Principal and Daniel Group President Rene Daniel shared his knowledge of the retail leasing and commercial real estate industries with the next generation of executives at various ICSC events throughout the country this spring.
Mr. Daniel is a recognized expert in the merchandising and leasing of regional and specialty centers throughout the U.S. and does consulting for some of America's largest shopping center developers.
Beginning in April, Daniel traveled to New York City to the ICSC Leasing for Non-Leasing Professionals Seminar. The class he taught, “Face to Face Bartering,” was an interactive session, teaching negotiating skills to insure maximum profit when making a deal. Students were able to engage in real life mock negotiation, where as landlord or retailer, they determine their objectives, set their strategies and find out what it is like to make their own deal.
Daniel’s next stop was the ICSC John T. Riordan School for Professional Development in Scottsdale, Arizona. He shared the fundamentals of merchandising, economics and leasing strategies in two “Leasing Institute” classes. “Making the Deal: Salesmanship and Structuring Special Deals” communicated Daniel’s perspective on the art of salesmanship, including deal presentations, written proposals and working through a case study. Daniel also focused on the market as part of his “Prospecting for Tenants: Sources, Trends and Negotiations” class, which offered insights on evaluating lease plans, finding and identifying prospects and the role of advertising and publicity.
Most recently, Daniel headed to Las Vegas where he taught a course on “Leasing Shopping Centers: Deal Making Techniques and Attaining CLS Certification” at the ICSC RECON convention. In this class that boasted more than 200 attendees, Daniel taught students how to deal with today’s market forces to maximize finds from operations through a leasing program that increases rental income and achieves an optimum tenant mix. The course was also aimed at increasing students’ awareness on the effects of leasing transactions on financial performance and give them proper review for the Certified Leasing Specialist (CLS) exam.
Daniels’ lectures have received high marks both from his peers and the students enrolled in the classes. His most recent lectures boasted a nearly 100% positive rating from participants.
“I have always made it a priority to share my knowledge and mentor young professionals to help perpetuate future leadership in the commercial real estate industry,” said Daniel. “I am grateful for the opportunity to take part in this conference and thank ICSC for providing such valuable forums.”
Throughout his career, Daniel has regularly shared his expertise and experience with other commercial real estate professionals on a local, national and international level. He served as Dean of the School of Leasing at the University of Shopping Centers and as a lecturer for the International Council of Shopping Centers in both the Leasing Institute and the School of Management.
