Making the jump to a new space or starting from scratch can be very stressful. There are so many factors to consider, and oftentimes the final decision can hinder on things you never even thought of or planned for.
First and foremost, you need to ask yourself if moving into a space is the best fit. Some of these questions include:
Differentiating between small & large commercial real estate spaces can often be unclear, as the answer is extremely subjective. What I consider to be a small space may be completely different from other TD&A agents & CRE firms. Generally speaking I like to consider a small space as being no more than 1,000 square feet, with a large space starting at 10,000 square feet, and would assume that most other firms make the same classifications, but without specifically asking there really isn’t any way to know.
Definitions of small and large spaces are also going to be dependent upon property type & location. Whether I like it or not, as a commercial real estate professional I sometimes have to perform general math calculations. One conversion working its way into my daily routine more than the rest is converting square feet to acres and vice versa.
Let’s walk thru the process…
There are 43,560 square feet in one acre. If I have seven acres of land, that would equal 304,920 square feet. To find our square feet number, we simply multiply the number of acres (in this case, that number is seven) by 43,560:
So now let’s say I know I have 304,920-square-feet of space and want to figure out how many acres that is equal to. All we need to do is divide the number of square feet (304,920) by 43,560 to find out how many acres we have (seven)
